MATT Taylor has challenged his players to embark on an unbeaten run after securing a first win as Solihull Moors boss against 10-man Ebbsfleet United.
A brace from Manny Duku on his full debut for Moors saw Solihull end their 10-game winless run.
Duku struck either side of substitute Kwame Thomas’s penalty while the visitors had Toby Edser sent off early in the second half at Damson Park.
The result means Solihull sit 13th in the National League table after securing their first win since the turn of the year.
And Taylor hopes his side can use the momentum gained from the win to go on an unbeaten run.
Taylor said: “The most important thing is I’m talking about us picking up three points.
“We dominated a game of football but we just need to be better in the final third.
“I’ve questioned the players a lot recently but they found a way to win. We’ve got to go on an unbeaten run now, that’s the challenge I’ve just given the players.
“There were some big performances from my players but I’m still going to keep going after them because we need to be better when we get big moments in games.
“It was massive for us in terms of wanting to pick up three points, we’re trying to find a formula that works.
“We had to pick up three points, that was my challenge to the players, that nothing else would be acceptable, and they’ve gone and delivered.”
Moors broke the deadlock on 43 minutes when Duku headed in James Clarke’s cross from the right to score his first goal for the club.
However, bottom club Ebbsfleet drew level nine minutes into first-half injury time as Thomas confidently scored from the penalty spot after Jack Wells-Morrison committed a foul in the box.
The visitors then had captain Edser sent off six minutes after the interval after he picked up a second yellow card for pulling down Marcel Oakley.
And Moors reclaimed the lead five minutes from time as Duku headed in Jamey Osborne’s floated corner from the right.
Solihull are next in action against Hartlepool United on Saturday, March 15 with kick-off at 5.30pm at Victoria Park.
