MATT Taylor admits his Solihull Moors side must be ‘fitter, faster and stronger’ next season following a 1-0 defeat against Rochdale.

Moors lost 1-0 against play-off bound Rochdale at Damson Park as veteran forward Ian Henderson scored the game’s only goal.

The result means Solihull sit 14th in the National League table with one match left to play.

And Taylor insists the conditioning of his squad must improve if Moors are to compete at the top end of the table next season.

Taylor said: “The performance was good on the whole, we spent large spells without the ball.

“We had to change the team because we’ve got lads running on empty, we seem to be losing two or three players every game at the moment.

“Something needs to change and it will change next season, we need to be fitter, faster and stronger next season.

“It’s part of a conditioning issue, to compete at the end of the league that we want to next season, it’s a must that we’re fitter, faster and stronger.

“At times we really struggle to affect teams but each and every player has given everything they’ve got.

“It’s imperative that the players send the supporters off with a positive performance and result against Dagenham.

“I want to finish the season on a high and finish with three points, we want to finish the season strongly so we can take some momentum into next season.

“It’s going to be a busy summer, there’s going to be players that leave and we’ve got to make sure we get the right players in the building.”

After a goalless first period, Henderson broke the deadlock on 53 minutes when he looped a shot over Laurie Walker from 10-yards out.

Solihull finish the season with a home game against Dagenham and Redbridge on Monday, May 5 with kick-off at 3pm at Damson Park.
