ANDY Whing admitted it is going to take time for Solihull Moors to find their best form following a 2-1 home defeat against play-off rivals Gateshead.

Josh Kelly’s spot kick kept Moors in the contest after Stephen Wearne scored a penalty and Greg Olley struck at the end of the first half for Gateshead at the ARMCO Arena.

And Moors boss Whing feels his side have a long way to go to reach their full potential, after losing back-to-back league games for just the second time this season.

Whing said: “It’s a very good Gateshead team, they’re on a high at the minute but I thought we were fantastic, it was chalk and cheese from the weekend.

“One mistake has cost us really, the six or seven minute period before half time has killed us and lost us the game, other than that we were outstanding.

“It’s going to take time for us, we’re nowhere near where we want to get to in terms of how we want to play and patterns [of play].

“It’s just not falling for us at the moment, on another day we’d have got something out of the game, if we keep playing like that we’ll be alright.

“We’re hitting teams who are in a good run of form, we’re just in one of those periods and we have to get through it, we’ll get there.”

Gateshead broke the deadlock on 42 minutes when Wearne fired a penalty into the top-left corner of the goal after Kyran Lofthouse went down in the box under a challenge from Kade Craig.

And the visitors doubled their lead in first-half injury time as Olley’s deflected finish from Wearne’s cross stunned Moors heading into the break.

However, the home side reduced the deficit on 86 minutes when Kelly fired a spot kick down the middle of the goal after substitute Jon Benton drew a foul in the box.

Moors are next in action away at Altrincham on Saturday, November 25 with kick-off at 3pm at Moss Lane.
