JACK Mullen and Charlie Morris both scored twice as Knowle showed their title credentials with a comprehensive 5-1 win away at lowly Coventry Alvis to secure an eighth successive victory.

Mullen twice put the Robins ahead in the first half before two goals from Morris and a further strike from Nathan Corry completed the scoring at Alvis Sports and Social Club.

The result means Knowle sit third in the Midland Football League Division Two table, 10 points behind Sutton United with three games in hand.

And Knowle made a blistering start as Mullen headed in a corner at the far post with just 40 seconds on the clock.

However, Alvis scored a surprise equaliser when a free-kick skimmed off the head of Knowle defender Lewis Rainey and into his own net

The visitors restored their lead just before half time when Mullen converted Corry’s cross from the right to send Knowle into the break with a one-goal advantage.

However, immediately following the goal the two benches clashed and also locked horns at full time as tempers boiled over.

Knowle made a similarly quick start to the second half as Morris took advantage of a mix-up in the Alvis defence to increase the Robins’ lead.

And Morris doubled his tally for the game later in the half with a fine finish from 18-yards out before Corry pounced on another defensive mistake to seal the points just past the hour mark.

The Robins were dominant throughout as Hayden Seymour produced an impressive display despite bnot finding the net.

Knowle are next in action at home to Redditch Borough on Saturday, February 25 with kick-off at 3pm at the Draintech Community Ground.
