FOOTBALL - Robins set for Alvis test in Coventry

KNOWLE are hoping to extend their winning run to eight matches when they make the trip to Coventry Alvis this weekend.

The Robins secured their place in the semi-finals of the Birmingham FA Saturday Vase last weekend with a 2-1 win away at AFC Somers.

Knowle have won all seven of their fixtures since the turn of the year and sit third in the Midland Football League Division Two table as they attempt to chase down leaders Sutton United.

This weekend’s opponents Alvis are down in 15th place and have won just one of their last 11 league matches but have several games in hand on the teams above them as they sit just one place above the foot of the table.

And Alvis have registered just one home victory this season as they dispatched Earlswood Town 3-1 in their most recent league fixture.

Robins’ joint-manager Matthew Seeley said: “Alvis is always a difficult place to go and win. Their lowly league position will not mean it will be an easy match for us.

“It won’t be easy. We will need to be on full alert to secure the points.”

Knowle’s clash with Alvis takes place on Saturday, February 18 with kick-off at 3pm at Alvis Sports and Social Club.
