FOOTBALL - Robins face tough test at Fairfield Villa this weekend

Solihull Editorial 12th Jan, 2023   0

KNOWLE are hoping to maintain their perfect start to the New Year when they travel to Fairfield Villa this weekend.

The Robins thrashed Lane Head 6-0 in their last outing and have won their last three league matches without conceding.

Opponents Fairfield are unbeaten in their last six league games and edged out Alcester Town 2-1 last weekend.

Both teams will hope to remain in the title picture following this weekend’s clash with Knowle third in the Midland Football League Division Two table and nine points off the top with a game in hand.

Fairfield are two places further back in fifth, three points behind Knowle with a game in hand on the Robins.

And there is some added spice to this weekend’s match after former Knowle player Lewis Cosgrove made the move to Fairfield at the end of last year.

Robins’ joint-manager’s Clive and Matthew Seeley said: “Another tough match. They are well in form, but we have lads returning from injury and are quietly confident.”

Entry is free for all.

Knowle’s clash with Fairfield takes place on Saturday, January 14 with kick-off at 2pm at the Recreation Ground.
