ANDY Whing feels Solihull Moors have found their identity again following a thrilling 3-2 victory away at Oldham Athletic.
Debutant Marcel Oakley came off the bench to score the winner for Moors in injury time after Jack Stevens and James Gale twice put the visitors ahead at Boundary Park.
And Whing believes the last couple of games have allowed his side to reset and rediscover their identity.
Whing said: “I’m delighted with the performance and the result, we were outstanding.
“We looked dangerous going forward, the boys put their bodies on the line when they needed to, the subs made a difference.
“It was a good reset for us in terms of how we want to play and getting our identity back.
“We can be miles better but we’ve got our identity back and that’s the most pleasing thing.
“We can still be better on the ball and be better in the middle to final third, we’ll keep working and we’ll get better and better.
“We’re getting bodies back, we’ve had so many injuries, we’ve probably used the lowest amount of players all season.
“We couldn’t have got a worse or tougher draw [in the FA Cup], especially after what happened their last season but after the last two performances away from home, we’re going into it with a lot of heart, belief and courage.”
Moors broke the deadlock six minutes after the break when Stevens’ flick released Bradley Stevenson who saw his initial shot blocked only for the former to fire the loose ball into the bottom right corner.
Oldham drew level on 78 minutes as Mark Kitching headed in a corner at the back post from four-yards out.
However, the visitors reclaimed the lead three minutes later when Gale collected another Stevens flick and drove into the box before coolly finishing into the bottom right corner.
Substitute Oakley sealed the points in injury time with a composed finish from James Clarke’s defence-splitting through ball.
The Latics grabbed a consolation goal six minutes into injury time when former Moors midfielder Josh Lundstram found the net but it proved too little too late.
Solihull are next in action against Altrincham in the FA Cup on Saturday, October 12 with kick-off at 3pm at Moss Lane.
