SOLIHULL Moors Women kicked off their pre-season campaign with a thrilling 3-2 win against fellow fourth tier side Long Eaton United Ladies.
Emmalee Hornsby, Charlotte Leedham and Zoe Creaney were all on target for Moors at the Abacus Lighting Community Arena.
Solihull boss Tom Blaymires featured seven trialists in his squad, three of which started, as Moors looked to make the perfect start ahead of the new season.
And one of the trialists, Trialist B, broke the offside trap before rounding the goalkeeper only for the keeper to get enough of the ball and stab it to safety before Leedham fired over from 11-yards out.
Chances were at a premium in the first half before Hornsby slotted home underneath the goalkeeper on 44 minutes after the ball deflected kindly into her path.
And Moors doubled their lead just three minutes into the second half as Hornsby teed up Leedham for a first time shot that found the net.
However, Long Eaton pulled a goal back just six minutes later with a stunning curling effort into the top corner from 20-yards out clipping the inside of the post on its way in past a helpless Megan Donohoe.
Solihull spurned a glorious chance to restore their two-goal lead just past the hour mark when a teasing cross was met by Jenna Roberts who rose highest only to divert the ball just past the post.
And Long Eaton almost made Moors pay for that missed opportunity when a whipped cross looked destined for the top corner only for the crossbar to come to the home side’s rescue.
However, the visitors did eventually draw level with five minutes left to play with another fine finish from more than 25-yards out past debutant Harley Savage in the Moors goal.
There was more drama to come as Moors snatched victory with the last kick of the game on 92 minutes courtesy of captain Creaney who unleashed an unstoppable effort into the top corner from 35-yards out.
