FOOTBALL - Moors Women come from two goals down to claim point at Leafield

SOLIHULL Moors Women came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Leafield Athletic Ladies and extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

Moors conceded either side of half time before Lyndsey Ross-Baker and Cheyanne Jarvis struck to rescue a point at The Tally Ho.

The result means Moors sit second in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands table.

Leafield took the lead on 18 minutes when a pass split the Solihull defence and allowed the striker to score off the underside of the bar as the ball rolled agonisingly over the line with goalkeeper Harley Savage stranded.

And the home side doubled their advantage on 51 minutes when Leafield pounced on a mix-up between Savage and her defence to shoot into an open goal.

However, Moors reduced the deficit just two minutes later when Ross-Baker headed into the net through a crowded box from Jess Howard’s corner.

Solihull drew level four minutes later when the ball was switched to Jarvis who jinked past two defenders and cut inside before producing a sublime shot into the top right corner from the edge of the penalty area.

And both teams carved out chances to win the game as Tiana Russell-Cartwright, Jarvis and substitute Becky Knight were denied by the Leafield keeper whilst Savage made a fine save in the dying moments.
