SOLIHULL Moors Elite Academy secured back-to-back Joel Richards Memorial Cup trophies with a 3-0 win against Stourbridge under-18’s in the final.

Mike Fowler’s side led at the break through goals from Kian Ryley and Ross Evans before Max Martin sealed the win in the second half at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium.

Moors made a strong start as both Ryley and Martin forced the Stourbridge keeper into a couple of early saves.

And Solihull broke the deadlock on 14 minutes when Ryley produced a stunning bicycle kick finish to put Moors into a deserved lead.

However, Stourbridge were almost gifted an equaliser when an error at the back allowed a Stour attacker in on goal only for Moors goalkeeper Aaron Flahavan to stand his ground and collect a tame effort.

And Flahavan then made a superb save low down to keep Solihull ahead before Moors second goal arrived soon after.

Solihull doubled their lead on 31 minutes when Evans placed a composed finish into the bottom left corner from the edge of the penalty area.

And Moors had a chance to extend their lead from the penalty spot just two minutes later only for Leo Wood to see his spot kick saved by the Stourbridge keeper.

Moors went close towards the end of the half as Evans saw his effort come back off the post before Ashton De Mulder launched his attempt narrowly over the crossbar.

And Solihull eventually scored their third goal on 64 minutes as Martin found the net following a scramble in the box.

Stourbridge were awarded a penalty on 79 minutes only for Moors stopper Flahavan to make an excellent stop and preserve his side’s clean sheet.

Moors saw out the remaining minutes to clinch their second Joel Richards Memorial Cup in as many seasons on a memorable night for the club’s young prospects.
