FOOTBALL - Moors well-beaten at home by Daggers

SOLIHULL Moors suffered their heaviest loss of the season after Neal Ardley’s side slumped to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Dagenham and Redbridge.

Matt Robinson started and completed the scoring for the Daggers with Josh Walker also on target for the visitors at the ARMCO Arena.

The result means Moors sit sixth in the National League table and are now winless in their last five matches in all competitions.

Moors fell behind after just 80 seconds when Robinson’s effort from the edge of the penalty area deceived Solihull goalkeeper Ryan Boot to give Daryl McMahon’s side an early lead.

The home side almost drew level when Josh Kelly was denied by the fingertips of Elliot Justham from Joe Sbarra’s low cross.

Boot was then forced into a fine stop from Joel Taylor’s drilled effort from a tight angle as the keeper managed to get his trailing leg to the ball.

And Callum Maycock was next to try his luck with a shot on the turn from the edge of the penalty area that forced Justham to produce another strong save diving down to his left hand side.

From the resulting corner, Dagenham almost scored on the counter attack only for James Clarke to make a goal-saving challenge after Josh Walker took a loose touch.

Moors went close to a leveller early in the second period when Justham spilled a Kelly free-kick into the path of Sbarra who was unable to find Alex Reid with his drilled cross.

However, Dagenham doubled their lead on 71 minutes when Walker appeared to nudge Alex Gudger in the back and pounced on the defender’s misplaced header to steer the ball home.

And the visitors sealed the win on 82 minutes when Robinson nodded home from a couple of yards out after Boot could only parry Junior Morais’ powerful drilled effort.

Solihull are next in action away at Hartlepool United on Tuesday, November 15 in an FA Cup first round replay with kick-off at 7.45pm at Victoria Park.
