SOLIHULL Moors slipped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat away at Yeovil Town to suffer their third defeat of the season.

Moors were beaten by Chiori Johnson’s 58th minute goal as Yeovil claimed just their second win of the campaign at Huish Park.

The result means Solihull sit sixth in the National League table and have won just one of their last five league matches.

Moors started brightly as Callum Howe’s glanced header was blocked behind for a corner from Ben Coker’s free-kick.

The chances continued to come Solihull’s way when Andrew Dallas nodded a hanging cross into the path of Josh Kelly who could only stab the ball wide at the second attempt.

However, Yeovil should have taken the lead on 10 minutes when Charlie Wakefield slipped in Johnson only for the full-back to blaze over following a rapid counter attack.

The Glovers went close again through Malachi Linton’s deflected effort whilst Joe Sbarra stung the palms of Grant Smith in the Yeovil goal at the other end.

And Dallas was slipped through one-on-one soon after only for Smith to narrow the angle and make the save before Coker sent a free-kick narrowly wide.

Neal Ardley’s side picked up where they left off after the break as Kelly sliced wide from a tight angle before Sbarra went close after he drove to the edge of the penalty area and fired inches past the post.

However, Yeovil took the lead on 58 minutes when Johnson tapped home from close range after Moors goalkeeper Louie Moulden could only palm Matt Worthington’s shot into his path.

Moulden kept Moors in the game thereafter as he made a stunning stop from Alex Fisher’s initial effort before heroically blocking the rebound attempt to deny a certain goal.

And the on-loan keeper made two further saves to keep Yeovil at bay with Moors unable to create a noteworthy chance in their quest for an equaliser.

Solihull are next in action at home to Basford United on Saturday, October 15 in FA Cup Fourth Round Qualifying with kick-off at 3pm at the ARMCO Arena.
