TABLE toppers Knowle suffered a first league defeat since the opening day of the season after losing 2-1 away at Coventrians.
The Robins took the lead when Callum Burston-Keeley scored directly from a corner only for Coventrians to turn the game on its head before half time at Coventry Colliery Sports Ground.
And the result means Knowle lead the Midland Football League Division Two table by five points although third-placed Redditch Borough are six points behind with three games in-hand.
The high winds caused both teams problems throughout on a difficult pitch as Knowle broke the deadlock on 13 minutes when the wind caught Burston-Keeley’s corner which went straight into the goal.
However, Coventrians equalised seven minutes later as Romano Graham found the net before a defensive mix-up allowed Robbie Brown to complete the comeback before the break.
The Robins should have drawn level in the second period as both Tom Craine and Jay Rendell spurned glorious chances to equalise.
However, Knowle were unable to rescue a point as the Robins suffered their first away defeat in the league this season.
Knowle are next in action away at Hampton on Boxing Day (Tuesday, December 26) with kick-off at 2pm at Field Lane.
