ANDY Whing praised his side’s patience after Solihull Moors consolidated their place in the play-off spots with a 2-0 win against Boreham Wood.

Moors eventually broke the deadlock on 73 minutes through Callum Maycock before Tahvon Campbell sealed the points late on at the ARMCO Arena.

And Moors recorded a first clean sheet since January to the delight of boss Whing ahead of a trip to relegation-threatened Dorking Wanderers this weekend.

Whing said: “It was all about the result, we knew they were going to be hard to beat but we were patient and rolled our sleeves up when we needed to.

“You have to win different ways and we won it a different way, two bits of quality have won the game for us, we’re delighted with a clean sheet and the boys deserved it because they put their bodies on the line.

“I’m really pleased to win at home, we’ve not really had the rub of the green at home, we’ve been excellent away and we keep going and we keep fighting.

“[Dorking] will be really tough, they’ll pose different threats, we’re under no illusions, we’ll take each game as it comes.”

Moors opened the scoring on 73 minutes when Maycock powered a first time effort past Nathan Ashmore from 10-yards out after good work from Tyrese Shade down the left.

And the home side made sure of the points on 85 minutes when Campbell’s low effort from the edge of the penalty area found the bottom left corner.

The result leaves Moors fourth in the National League table, six points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off place.

Solihull are next in action away at Dorking on Saturday, March 16 with kick-off at 3pm at Meadowbank.
