FOOTBALL - Knowle twice come from behind to snap losing run against Inkberrow

TOM CULLEN scored the winner as Knowle twice came from behind to beat Inkberrow 3-2 and snap their three-game losing streak.

Cullen’s winner came after Nathan Corry and Dylon Bennett had twice brought Knowle level as they secured a crucial win in their fight for promotion.

The result leaves Knowle in third place in the Midland Football League Division Two table, seven points behind leaders Cadbury Athletic.

However, the Robins made a slow start when Nathan Davies put the home side in front on 13 minutes after Knowle’s defence failed to deal with a ball over the top.

The visitors responded with a much-needed equaliser near the half hour mark when Corry finished at the second attempt from Brandon Hague’s pass.

And Knowle had the ball in the net again soon after only for the referee to blow up for a foul on the Inkberrow goalkeeper.

The hosts regained the lead early in the second-half when George Robbins found the corner of the net after skipping through the Knowle defence.

Knowle found a quick response when Hague was tripped in the box which allowed Bennett to draw level for the second time from the penalty spot.

And the Robins completed the comeback when Cullen finished off a flowing move following some good work down the left.

Clive Seeley’s side almost extended their lead when Corrry hit the bar from distance as Knowle comfortably saw out the remaining minutes.

Knowle are next in action away at Lane Head on Saturday, February 5 with kick-off at 2.45pm at the Red Lion Ground.
