KNOWLE missed another penalty as the Robins twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Central Ajax.

Goals in either half from Lewis Clarke and George Seeley twice drew Knowle level at Hampton Road after Dylon Bennett saw his first-half penalty saved with the game all square.

The result means Knowle remain top of the Midland Football League Division Two table by a single point.

Robins joint manager Clive Seeley said: “Both sides wanted to get the game on, in hindsight it probably didn’t suit us, two good footballing sides, I like the way Ajax try and play.

“I thought it was a fair result, we missed some chances but so did they, we could have lost the game at the end.

“Both goals are very disappointing, we keep giving teams a one-goal lead, we’re chasing the game.

“We missed a penalty which is the story of our season, I’m losing count of the points we’re dropping due to missed penalties.

“Me and Matt have kind of written the league off in a way but you never know, there’s a lot of football still to be played.”

Despite a pre-match hailstorm, the game went ahead as Ajax took an early lead when Lewis Kuster’s cross from the left took a deflection and sailed into the net.

However, the Robins equalised on the half-hour mark as Clarke forced the ball over the line from a corner.

And Knowle then spurned a golden chance to complete the turnaround when Owain Taylor drew a foul in the box only for Bennett to see his penalty saved by Nath Taylor.

The Robins remained on top after the break only for another defensive error to prove costly when Adam Taylor restored Ajax’s lead.

The visitors equalised for a second time as Seeley tapped home after the Robins missed a number of chances earlier in the half.

However, Ajax almost snatched the points at the death as the Robins headed the ball off the line deep into injury time.

Knowle are next in action at home to title rivals Redditch Borough on Saturday, March 30 with kick-off at 3pm at the Draintech Communuity Ground.
