NATHAN Corry scored twice as Knowle cruised to a 4-0 win against Fairfield Villa to remain top of the table.

Corry struck in either half after Jay Rendell opened the scoring with Tom Craine also on target in a dominant display at the Draintech Community Ground.

The result means Knowle lead the Midland Football League Division Two table by a single point after recording a sixth successive clean sheet and ninth straight win in all competitions.

Knowle’s joint manager Clive Seeley said: “Another really good result and a clean sheet again, I thought it would be tough, they dragged in three new players, we knew they’d be strong.

“We got control of the game early and we didn’t let go throughout the game, we were dominant and could have had more.

“There were some really good individual performances out there but the team as a whole were all on it, we’re looking very good off the ball.

“We’ve got a lot of strength in depth which we’ve never really had at the club, we’ve always petered away.

“Credit to Fairfield, they are a work in progress, they’ll get stronger as the season progresses and they never gave up, full credit to them.”

After surviving an early scare, Knowle took the lead on 18 minutes when Rendell finished well from 12-yards out.

And the Robins doubled their lead on 36 minutes as Corry put the finishing touch on a free-kick from distance.

The home side sealed the points on 56 minutes when Craine headed home to cap an excellent display from the in-form Knowle man.

And Corry completed the scoring with his second of the game on the hour mark with a Fairfield defender only able to turn the former’s goalbound effort into his own net.

Knowle are next in action at home to Balsall and Berkswell on Saturday, October 21 in the Saturday Vase with kick-off at 2pm at the Draintech Community Ground.
