KNOWLE booked their place in the semi-finals of the Les James Challenge Cup with a 2-0 victory against divisional rivals Central Ajax.

An early goal from Joe Drake-Cervantes put the Robins ahead before substitute Callum Burston-Keeley scored from the penalty spot late on at the Draintech Community Stadium.

And Knowle will play Midland Football League Division Three side AFC Birmingham in the semi-finals of the competition.

The Robins have won the Les James Challenge Cup in each of the last two seasons.

Knowle’s joint manager, Clive Seeley said: “We were always the better side, we could have gone more than a goal up at half time.

“We deserved the win but full credit to Ajax, they’re going to surprise a lot of teams, their league position is very false.

“They’ll upset a few teams, I’m not looking forward to going to their place [later in the season].

“There’s no easy games, every game is like a cup final for us, the lads have got to step up every game and every minute.

“Promotion is the number one aim.”

The home side made the perfect start when Drake-Cervantes headed in at a corner after just four minutes to put the Robins into the lead.

And substitute Burston-Keeley sealed Knowle’s place in the last four from the penalty spot with 12 minutes left to play.

Knowle are next in action against Littleton on Saturday, February 8 with kick-off at 2pm at the Draintech Community Stadium.
