LEAGUE leaders Knowle thrashed bottom club Inkberrow 6-0 to claim their biggest win of the season.

Both Odane Barnes and Brandon Hague scored braces with George Seeley and Zak Parsons also on target for the visitors as the Robins netted six second-half goals at Sands Road.

The result means Knowle remain top of the Midland Football League Division Two table, two points clear of closest challengers Birmingham United.

A bizarre incident on 35 minutes saw Knowle denied the lead when Odane Barnes’ shot bounced back out of the goal.

The referee and his assistant said they could not see the incident and therefore opted not to award the goal.

Soon after, Tom Craine saw his tame penalty saved by the Inkberrow goalkeeper after drawing a foul in the box.

And Parsons then saw his stunning effort from the edge of the penalty area superbly kept out by the home keeper as the teams went into the break goalless.

However, within two minutes of the restart, Hague smashed home a loose ball to finally break the deadlock.

And Seeley quickly doubled Knowle’s advantage with a fine finish into the corner of the goal before Barnes made it three from Craine’s through ball.

With the visitors firmly on top, Parsons then beat three defenders on the edge of a crowded penalty area before chipping the ball past the keeper from a tight angle.

The Robins struck again when Barnes found the net after good work from Parsons before Hague completed the scoring with his second of the game.

Knowle are next in action against Lane Head on Saturday, October 5 with kick-off at 3pm at the Draintech Community Ground.
