CLIVE Seeley insists Knowle must keep the pressure on title favourites Redditch Borough after the Robins cruised to a 5-0 win at Coventry Alvis.

Debutant Connor Mort scored a first-half hat-trick while Jay Rendell and substitute Jack Mullen also found the net for the Robins at Green Lane on Easter Monday.

That came after Knowle drew 1-1 with title rivals Redditch at the Draintech Community Ground two days earlier with the return fixture scheduled for this weekend.

Knowle’s joint boss Seeley said: “Alvis have always been a little bit of a bogey team of mine, they’ve always done really well against us.

“I was expecting a tough fixture, you never know what’s going to happen on a bank holiday, it was great to see one of our debutants score a first-half hat-trick.

“That took the pressure off, it was good to get our noses in front, it’s about getting the points, Redditch Borough are odds on favourites for the title, we’ve just got to keep the pressure on.

“There’s a lot of games to play, I hope it goes in our favour.

“It’s a compact pitch at Redditch Borough, it’ll be two good sides going at it again, we’ll see how it goes, Saturday is a big one.”

The Robins broke the deadlock when Odane Barnes and Mort beat the offside trap before the latter applied the finish.

And Mort doubled Knowle’s lead with a superb strike from the left before completing his hat-trick after just 27 minutes with a header from a corner.

The visitors struck again after the break as Barnes put the ball on a plate for Rendell before Mullen came off the bench to complete the scoring.

And the results mean the Robins remain top of the Midland Football League Division Two table, 12 points clear of Borough who have seven games in-hand.

Knowle travel to Redditch on Saturday, April 6 with kick-off at 3pm at Cherry Tree Walk.
