FOOTBALL - Knowle on cloud nine after Bolehall demolition

KNOWLE secured a thumping 9-0 win against Bolehall Swifts to maintain their promotion push with Charlie Morris, George Seeley and Nathan Corry all netting twice.

The home side raced into a four-nil lead at half-time – thanks to goals from Morris, Lewis Cosgrove, Seeley and Brandon Hague.

They added a further five goals to their tally after the break with Seeley, Jay Payne, Morris and two goals from Corry completing a memorable win for the Solihull side.

Victory for Knowle means they remain second in the Midland Football League Division Two table – just one point behind leaders Fairfield Villa with two games in-hand.

After suffering a disappointing first round exit in the Birmingham Saturday Vase last weekend – Knowle were determined to put things right at the Draintech Community Ground.

And after Cosgrove hit the post from a corner in the 10th minute – Knowle never looked back.

Just a couple of minutes later – Morris tapped home to open the scoring after an excellent move down the right which left the away side visibly dejected.

And it was soon two-nil when Cosgrove looped an effort into the net before Seeley turned home Corry’s perfect cross on the half hour mark to make in three.

Bolehall’s only effort of note in the first-half came from Tom Whiteman who saw his shot well-saved by Knowle goalkeeper Jack Tregartha.

Knowle extended their lead further when Hague netted a trademark goal from 18-yards out to all but seal the points – heading into the break with a four-goal lead.

The visitors remained determined to play out from the back but were punished once again by a superior Knowle side when Seeley thumped home the hosts fifth of the afternoon.

Just five minutes later, Payne made it six before quickfire goals from Morris and Corry put Knowle even further out of sight.

Corry scored his second of the match in added time to extend Knowle’s lead to nine in a stunning performance that highlighted their promotion credentials.

Knowle are next in action against Kenilworth Sporting on Saturday, October 30 with kick-off at the Draintech Community Ground at 3pm.
