KNOWLE FC’S ladies side have once again joined forces with Wadsworths Solicitors ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season next month.

The Robins are embarking on a new era following the appointment of Reece Crowton as the club’s new manager.

And Wadsworths have committed to a ninth successive season as main sponsor of the ladies team giving Crowton the chance to build on the solid foundations established by his predecessors.

Knowle chairman, Darryl Saunders, said: “We’re extremely pleased to work with Wadsworths Solicitors again.

“The incredible long-term support provided by them has been instrumental in establishing and sustaining our Women’s team.

“Wadsworths’ unwavering commitment has enabled the club to offer football opportunities for girls at every age group, ensuring a continuous flow of talent into the first team.”

Knowle have successfully integrated girls football into the broader structure of the club in an attempt to create a clear pathway from the under-8s through to the first team.

And Wadsworths director, Gemma Dempsey, visited the club during a pre-season friendly to take a look at the club’s new shirts and meet some of the players.

Dempsey added: “Wadsworths Solicitors is thrilled to continue our longstanding sponsorship of Knowle Ladies FC.

“Supporting local talent has always been a core value of our firm, and our partnership with Knowle Ladies FC is a testament to this commitment.

“We’ve witnessed the incredible growth of women’s football since we started our sponsorship, and we’re proud to be part of this inspiring journey.”

Some of Knowle’s players have made the jump from the under-18s side to the senior set-up and captain Maz Byrne insists Wadsworths’ backing allows her to call the club her home.

Byrne said: “We’re extremely grateful for the support from everyone at Wadsworths.  They believed in us, and the women’s game as a whole, before the recent boost in popularity following the success of the amazing Lionesses.

“Their backing ensures the club can be home to female players like myself, my teammates and my daughter who plays for our under eleven side. We’re a family club, so it’s great that a family business recognises that strong ethos and wants to partner with us.”

Wadsworths marketing manager, Victoria Hicks, added: “As a local business, connecting with our community is essential. We believe in the power of sport to inspire and unite people, and we feel honoured to be associated with such a talented and dedicated team.”

And Knowle chairman Saunders is keen to involve the surrounding community as much as possible with the club’s ladies side.

Saunders said: “I’d encourage supporters to come down to the games on Sunday’s to support the players and witness the progress first-hand.

“With this solid backing and a promising setup, Knowle FC’s women’s team is poised for success, and the entire community is urged to get behind them as they take on new challenges.”

Knowle begin their West Midlands Women’s Regional Premier Division campaign away at Leek Town on Sunday, September 1.

The Robins host Kidderminster Harriers in their first home game of the season on Sunday, September 15 with kick-off at 2pm at the Draintech Stadium.

Knowle also enter the FA Cup later in September.
