KNOWLE lifted the Midweek Floodlit Cup with a 3-0 victory against Smethwick Rangers in the final as the club completed a league and cup double.

The Robins ended a memorable season for the club in style with a dominant victory against their divisional rivals at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium.

Knowle led through Talib Copeland’s goal on the half-hour mark before Brady Floyd doubled the Robins’ lead in first-half injury time.

And the Robins sealed victory in style at the death as teenager Leo Henderson lobbed the Smethwick goalkeeper to complete the scoring.

That came after Connor Mort saw red for Knowle in injury time after he picked up two yellow cards.

Knowle went close early on as Copeland dragged a shot narrowly wide from Dylon Daniels’ cutback.

Rangers responded with a chance of their own as Charlie Manners forced Robins goalkeeper Matt Horton into a save with the follow-up effort cleared off the line.

Smethwick continued to threaten as Joe Haines fired a shot over the crossbar from distance while Jonathan Brown denied Hayden Purves at the other end.

However, Knowle broke the deadlock on 28 minutes when Copeland finished at the second attempt from Mort’s wicked delivery from the right.

And the Robins struck again moments before the break as Copeland flicked Horton’s long kick into the path of Floyd who produced a confident finish to put Knowle in command at the break.

Knowle almost extended their lead after the break as Brown kept out Daniels’ 20-yard effort with the ball destined for the top-left corner.

Smethwick almost set up a nervy finish when Tyler Wilson’s powerful effort deflected off Horton and onto the crossbar.

However, the 10-men of Knowle added a third goal with the final kick of the game as Henderson collected a loose ball and sent a stunning lob over Brown and into the net.

The Robins celebrated on the pitch after the full time whistle as captain George Seeley lifted the trophy aloft.
