FOOTBALL - Joint managers commit to Knowle for 2026/27 season

KNOWLE joint managers Matt and Clive Seeley have committed to the club for the 2026/27 season following a promotion-winning campaign.

The management duo guided the Robins to a treble this season as Knowle stormed to the Midland Football League Division One title.

Knowle will play at Step Five in the United Counties League Premier Division South for the first time in their history next season.

And the two managers have agreed to continue in their roles as the Robins prepare for a historic campaign.

Clive said: “Matt and I are delighted to be staying for another season.

“Back-to-back promotions have surpassed our wildest dreams, and we’re now focused on consolidating our position as a Step Five club.

“Going head-to-head with some massive non-league names like Atherstone, Rugby Town and Coventry Sphinx will be a huge challenge, but it’s one that we and the lads are genuinely excited for.

“We are staying loyal to the squad that won the treble last season, but we’ll look to bring in a couple of quality additions to keep that momentum going.

“Massive credit must also go to our chairman, Stuart Lanyon, and the committee for working tirelessly to keep pace with our success on the pitch, which is stretching our resources to the limit – particularly regarding essential ground improvements.

“Clubs like Knowle rely heavily on volunteers, and we’d love to hear from anyone able to give up a few hours a week to help us progress off the pitch.

“Alongside volunteers, we are also looking for new commercial partners to team up with us.

“We have a variety of sponsorship packages available for local businesses who want to share in our journey.”

Matt added: “Looking back, last season was nothing short of incredible, but football moves fast and the hard work for Step Five starts right now as we approach pre-season.

“We are ambitious about what this club can achieve, but we’re also realistic about the step up in quality we’re going to face.

“Our approach last season was to never look further ahead than the next 90 minutes, and that exact same mentality is what will serve us well this year.

“I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to retain the core squad. These lads earned the right to be here, and they know the standard required.

“We’ll enjoy the challenge, take each game as it comes, and make sure we are tactically and physically ready to compete from day one.”

Knowle chairman Lanyon said: “I am absolutely delighted to secure the commitment of both Clive and Matt for the upcoming season.

“After the record-breaking success they delivered last year, retaining them at the helm was our absolute priority.

“What they bring to this role goes far beyond just tactical knowledge.

“They bring an unparalleled work ethic, a deep understanding of the non-league game, and a unique ability to inspire loyalty in the players.

“Ensuring stability in the dugout is vital as we transition into Step Five.

“As a committee, we are working tirelessly to ensure our ground infrastructure and commercial partnerships keep pace with their incredible achievements on the pitch, and having Matt and Clive lead the team gives us the perfect foundation to build upon.”
