KNOWLE scored a pair of early goals to secure an 11th straight league win with a 2-1 victory against Kirby Muxloe.

The Robins raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of strikes from George Seeley and Hayden Purves inside the first 10 minutes at the Draintech Community Ground.

Kirby halved the deficit before the break as Kai O’Keeffe kept the visitors in the contest.

However, Knowle held on to secure the points and continue their winning run although Ricardo Dudley received a red card after the final whistle.

The result means the Robins sit third in the Midland Football League Division One table, seven points behind leaders Gornal Athletic with three games in-hand.

Knowle made the perfect start as Seeley opened the scoring after just two minutes when he turned home a low free-kick into the box from the right at the near post.

And the Robins struck again on eight minutes when Purves latched onto a through ball and produced a clinical finish past the onrushing Kirby goalkeeper from just outside the penalty area.

However, the visitors responded on 26 minutes as Kirby debutant O’Keeffe rounded the goalkeeper to score after a long ball unlocked the Knowle defence.

The Robins saw out the second half to extend their winning run in the league with the victory soured slightly by Dudley’s red card after the final whistle.

Knowle are next in action against Chelmsley Town on Tuesday, November 4 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Draintech Community Ground.
