EARLSWOOD Town suffered a second penalty shootout defeat in as many games after exiting the Saturday Vase against Wake Green Amateur.

The game finished 2-2 at the end of regulation time after the Earls staged a late fightback only for Wake Green to triumph on spot kicks at The Pavilions.

Earlswood fell behind on 22 minutes when Billy Powles drove a low shot from distance into the bottom right corner.

And Powles doubled Wake Green’s lead on 66 minutes when he latched onto a through ball and finished past Earls goalkeeper Scott Cashmore.

However, Cashmore denied Powles a hat-trick from the penalty spot with a fine stop after the keeper hauled down Nathan Percival in the box.

The Earls halved the deficit four minutes from time as Moussa Kiota scored his first goal for the club following a goalmouth scramble.

And substitute Liam Livesey sent the game to a shootout with a dramatic equaliser with a flicked header with the final touch of the game.

Livesey, Kiota and Tyler O’Neil all scored for the hosts from the spot before captain Louis Bridges saw his effort saved.

Cashmore responded with a save of his own only for Abdoulah Kchikech to miss the home side’s fifth spot kick which allowed Wake Green the chance to seal a 4-3 shootout victory.
