EARLSWOOD Town suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat against Coventry Alvis in their final home game of the season.

A penalty from Elliot Edwards briefly kept the Earls in the contest only for Alvis to score a blitz of goals to seal the points at The Pavilions.

Coventry led courtesy of goals from Dave Buckley and Jack Low before Buckley netted again and both Jagit Aujla and Mendel Masuku found the net.

The result means Earlswood sit 14th in the Midland Football League Division Two table with one fixture left to play.

Coventry broke the deadlock early on when Buckley’s header proved too powerful for Earls goalkeeper Alfie Pyott.

And Alvis doubled their lead when Low drove a shot into the bottom right corner from the edge of the penalty area.

However, the Earls halved the deficit when Edwards scored from the penalty spot after Harry Street drew a foul in the box.

Coventry responded by restoring their two-goal cushion as Buckley scored his second of the game after Pyott kept out his initial effort.

And Aujla squeezed a shot past Pyott at his near post before Masuku completed the scoring with a header from a corner as Alvis struck three times in the space of 10 minutes.

Earlswood finish the season away at Fairfield Villa on Saturday, April 12 with kick-off at 3pm at Stourbridge Road.
