FOOTBALL - Earlswood Town put four past Covenntrians to remain unbeaten

EARLSWOOD Town scored four goals without reply in a come-from-behind 4-1 win against newly-promoted Coventrians to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

The Earls fell behind inside two minutes before John Palmer, Tom Kinsey, Jensen Gaye and player-manager Joel Hughes all struck to secure a convincing win at The Pavilions.

And the result means Earlswood sit second in the Midland Football League Division Two table after three matches.

The home side made the worst possible start when Craig Williams waltzed through and picked out the bottom corner in the first few minutes of the game.

However, the Earls eventually drew level two minutes before half time when Palmer drove a low effort through a crowd of bodies and into the net.

And Earlswood completed the turnaround on 62 minutes as Kinsey scored his first goal of the season after racing through and blasting home past former Earls goalkeeper Tom Day.

Summer signing Gaye extended the home side’s lead as the substitute fired a low shot into the bottom right corner from 20-yards out.

And player-manager Hughes sealed the win late on as he calmly lifted the ball over Day to round off an excellent afternoon for his side.

Earlswood are next in action away at Littleton on Saturday, August 19 with kick-off at 3pm at Five Acres.
