EARLSWOOD Town conceded at the death in a 3-3 draw against high-flying Birmingham United.
The Earls raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of an own goal and Harry Street’s close-range volley at the Valley Stadium.
However, an own goal from Connor Wilkinson halved the deficit before Brett Fellows drew the home side level.
The visitors reclaimed the lead before the break as Elliot Edwards found the net only for Josh Gilmour to score a late equaliser for the hosts.
And the result means Earlswood sit 13th in the Midland Football League Division Two table with the club’s place in the division next season now secured.
The Earls made the perfect start when Andy Matthews’ forced a home defender to turn the ball into his own net via a ricochet.
And the visitors doubled their lead as Street volleyed home after Luke Woodward’s header kept the ball alive at a corner.
Birmingham responded when a corner from the left deflected into the net via the head of Wilkinson.
And United equalised soon after as Fellows curled a shot into the top left corner from the edge of the penalty area.
However, the Earls went into the break in front as Edwards cut in from the left and fired a low shot into the bottom right corner moments before the interval.
Edwards had a chance to extend the away side’s lead early in the second period only for United goalkeeper Tristan Ramsay to make a crucial save when one-on-one.
However, Birmingham equalised at the death as Gilmour finished from close range late on.
Earlswood are next in action against Hampton in the semi-finals of the Coventry Charity Cup on Tuesday, March 25 with kick-off at 7.30pm at the Sphinx Industrial Supplies Arena.
