EARLSWOOD Town halted their five-game losing run in the league following a 1-1 draw against Cadbury Athletic.

The Earls took the lead through Elliot Edwards’ goal only for the visitors to have Calum Willis sent off just before the break at the Bournville Recreation Ground.

However, Cadbury eventually made the most of the extra man on 68 minutes as Lemaar Rhule drew the home side level.

The result means Earlswood sit 13th in the Midland Football League Division Two table, four points above bottom club Lane Head.

Edwards fired the Earls into the lead on 19 minutes with the visitors searching for their first league win since November.

However, Willis saw red after he kicked out at a Cadbury player to leave Earlswood down a man for the entirety of the second half.

And the Earls held out until the 68th minute as Rhule lashed a shot into the net from the edge of the penalty area.

The visitors spurned a glorious chance to reclaim the lead as Cadbury goalkeeper Fraser Oliver stuck out a toe to prevent Edwards from taking the ball around him.

And Edwards blasted a free-kick into the wall from the edge of the penalty area with the final kick of the game.

Earlswood are next in action against Fairfield Villa on Saturday, February 15 with kick-off at 3pm at Fairfield Recreation Ground.
