EARLSWOOD Town lost 4-0 away at Cadbury Athletic as the Earls suffered a fifth straight defeat in all competitions.

An own goal from Joe Tobin put Cadbury ahead at the break before Wade Malley, Callum Devlin and Justice Campbell all scored for the visitors in the second half at The Hayes.

The result means Earlswood sit 12th in the Midland Football League Division Two table, just two points clear of Bolehall Swifts in 15th although the Earls have at least three games in-hand on the teams below them.

However, following a number of postponements, the Earls must play their final 12 matches in the space of less than four weeks.

Cadbury broke the deadlock in bizarre fashion on 23 minutes as Tobin clipped the ball into his own net after the Earls stopped believing the flag would go up for offside.

And the visitors then spurned two glorious chances to draw level as Dan Elwell saw his shot saved by the feet of Cadbury goalkeeper Fraser Oliver before Ricardo Dudley made a brave block to keep out Harry Street’s follow up.

Moments later, Elwell shot wide when one-on-one with Oliver before Malley stabbed home Cadbury’s second goal on 65 minutes.

And Devlin extended the home side’s lead six minutes later before Campbell completed the scoring in the final minute.

Earslwood are next in action at home to Birmingham United on Thursday, April 11 with kick-off at 6.10pm at The Pavilions.
