JOSEPH Drake-Cervantes’ second-half strike helped Earlswood Town halt their four-game losing run in the league with a 2-2 draw against Inkberrow.

The Earls took the lead after just 16 seconds through Alex Mee’s volley only for Inkberrow to turn the game on its head before Drake-Cervantes’ stunner levelled the match at Sands Road.

And the result means Earlswood sit ninth in the Midland Football League Division Two table.

The Earls made a blistering start and broke the deadlock after just 16 seconds when debutant Mee rifled home the returning Tom Kinsey’s cross on the half-volley

And Kinsey, making his 50th appearance for the club, won a penalty on 14 minutes only for Earls captain Louis Bridges to see his tame spot kick saved by Jack Turner

Inkberrow went close to an equaliser later in the half as Earlswood’s 16-year-old goalkeeper Harry Paterson made a brave block to deny Ethan McKeown when one-on-one.

However, the home side drew level on the stroke of half time when George Thomas drove the ball past Paterson from Nathan Davies’s through ball.

And Inkberrow almost completed the turnaround after the break as Joe Tobin cleared Sahad Amir’s effort off the line.

The home side eventually turned the game on its head on 66 minutes as McKeown placed a shot into the top left corner to leave Paterson with no chance.

However, the Earls responded soon after when Drake-Cervantes scored his first goal of the season after letting fly from 25-yards out to ensure the visitors came away with a point.

Earlswood are next in action at home to Inkberrow on Saturday, December 23 with kick-off at 2pm at The Pavilions.
