TAHVON Campbell scored one and set up another as Solihull Moors claimed a 2-1 win against Hartlepool United.

Campbell opened the scoring in the first half before teeing up Callum Maycock after the break as Callum Cooke responded for Hartlepool in vain at the ARMCO Arena.

The result means Solihull sit fourth in the National League table, four points inside the play-off places.

Hartlepool created the first chance of the game when Nicky Featherstone slipped in Joe Grey only for Moors goalkeeper Nick Hayes to make an important stop.

And Moors broke the deadlock on 20 minutes as Campbell forced the ball home from close range after Jack Stevens fired Jamey Osborne’s quickly-taken corner towards goal.

Visiting goalkeeper Joel Dixon then made a fine save to push Tyrese Shade’s powerful effort from 20-yards out behind for a corner.

Hartlepool went close to an equaliser later in the half after Grey allowed the ball to run through his legs before driving into the box and firing a shot inches past the post.

And the away side tested Hayes again early in the second half as the Moors keeper pushed Luke Waterfall’s header at the back post to safety.

However, Moors doubled their lead on 66 minutes when Maycock played a neat one-two with Campbell in the Hartlepool box as the midfielder recieved the latter’s backheel before finding the bottom right corner.

The visitors halved the deficit on 75 minutes as Cooke drilled the ball into the bottom left corner from 15-yards out after Hayes made an acrobatic save and Moors superbly blocked an effort on the line.

Hartlepool piled on the pressure and almost found an equaliser as Emmanuel Dieseruvwe’s header came back off the post at the death as Moors held on to claim another impressive victory.

Solihull are next in action at home to Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday, February 27 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the ARMCO Arena.
