LOUIS Bridges scored twice as Earlswood Town secured a convincing 4-0 win against BNJS in the first round of the Saturday Vase.

Bridges opened and completed the scoring with Daniel Elwell and Harry Street also on target at the Pavilions.

After going almost a month without a game, the Earls returned to action in style as Tommy Black and Matt Mayo were handed debuts.

And the home side took the lead on three minutes after some clever footwork afforded Bridges time and space on the edge of the penalty area before the striker found the far corner of the goal.

Bridges almost doubled his tally for game soon after only for his powerful strike from close range to travel narrowly wide of the post.

BNJS had chances to draw level as Daniel Rounds’ shot went over the crossbar before Shayne Campbell’s effort hit the side netting when one-on-one.

However, the Earls eventually extended their lead just before half time as Elwell struck a free-kick through a crowd of bodies and into the goal from 25-yards out.

And the Earls all but sealed their place in the next round early in the second half as Street’s shot from just outside the penalty area bounced over the outstretched arm of the BNJS goalkeeper.

The home side completed the scoring when Bridges saw his initial shot deflected past the keeper by a sliding Kane Bottomer.

Earlswood are next in action against AFC Coventry Rangers on Saturday, November 18 in the second round of the Saturday Vase with kick-off at 2pm at Coventry Tech Sporting Club.
