Dorridge gearing up for Division Two promotion push

Solihull Editorial 6th Feb, 2020   0

PREPARATIONS continue to be put in place by Dorridge Cricket Club ahead of the 2020 season.

Dorridge’s first team ranks have been bolstered by the additions of Jack Mills, a slow left-arm bowler from Bewdley, Harvey Collen, a promising all-rounder from Olton and Suffolk captain Ben Shepperson, with the aim of sealing an immediate return to Birmingham & District League Premier Division One.

A second team will compete in Division Four of the Warwickshire County League, while the thirds will compete in Division Five of the Cotswold Hills League.

Meanwhile, ex-Warwickshire man Chris Wright – who currently plays for Leicestershire and coaches the club’s youngsters – has committed himself to playing up to 15 games for Dorridge.

The club will don a new look for the upcoming campaign, with an updated badge and a change to yellow and blue colours providing a nod to Dorridge’s branding in the early 1970s.

Over 250 youngsters have signed up for Friday night coaching and will form part of the 20 youth sides representing the club this season, with the aim of continuing last year’s record where Dorridge appeared in more finals at youth level than any other team.
