Rain fails to stunt Delves' progress at Cadwell Park

RIDER Liam Delves built on his seventh-round win at Thruxton by earning an eighth-placed finish at Cadwell Park, moving him into the top ten of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship standings.

The Solihull resident now sits on 59 points after another impressive showing, despite the weekend getting off to a bad start when free practice was curtailed by rain on Friday.

Regardless, he raced to eighth in qualifying after a best lap time of 1:32.892, meaning that he started race day in the third row on the grid.

But with rainfall again hampering proceedings on the track, the final was reduced to just seven laps after a stop-start opening, opening up a frantic rush by the riders to scramble for the lead.

Delves was racing nicely in the top ten and almost claimed a finish of seventh in the final lap, but missed out by a gap of just 0.224 seconds to Championship leader Shane Richardson.

Regardless, Delves claimed a seventh-fastest lap of 1:33.147 and an overall time of 11:04.578, putting him in good stead for round nine at Oulton Park in just over two weeks’ time.
