KNOWLE and Dorridge CC suffered a five-wicket defeat against Halesowen CC after they were bowled out for 121 in the 35th over in their Birmingham Premier League Division One clash.

George Maddy top scored for the home side with 22 who formed a brief partnership with James Middleton (21) to put on 33 runs for K and D’s fourth wicket.

Opener Alex Phillips (20) and Gareth Davies (16 not out) were the only other batters to reach double figures as the hosts slumped from 76-5 to 97-9.

Hamza Shaikh was bowled for a duck whilst Ethan Brookes (3), Sam Reddish (5), Fahd Janjua (8), Jack Grundy (8), Mohammed Umar Shaikh (3) and Vidhan Iyer (9) all fell cheaply.

However, K and D made a promising start with the ball to restrict the visitors to 30-4 thanks to a fine opening spell from Brookes (3-43).

After Brookes had removed Shane Setia (11), Alex Bingham (3) and Billy-J Cox (4), Grundy (2-22) struck twice to claim the wickets of Edward Bragg (0) and Alexei Kervezee (26).

That left Halesowen on 66-5 only for Simon Gregory (38 not out) and Wesley Griffiths (32 not out) to put on a 56-run stand to guide the visitors to victory in 31.4 overs.

The result leaves K and D fourth in the table, trailing leaders Smethwick by 36 points.
