BIRMINGHAM Bears recorded back-to-back home wins in the T20 Blast with victories against Yorkshire Vikings and Derbyshire Falcons.

The Bears claimed a six-wicket win against Yorkshire at Edgbaston with just one over remaining.

And Birmingham then beat bottom side Derbyshire by 58 runs as Hasan Ali took six wickets including a hat-trick.

The results mean the Bears sit fifth in the T20 Blast North Group standings.

Against Yorkshire, Vikings opener Dawid Malan (69 not out), James Wharton (39) and Will Luxton (24) helped the visitors reach 139-3 in the 15th over.

However, Danny Briggs (2-28), Jake Lintott (2-30) and Moeen Ali (2-30) restricted Yorkshire to 164-7 at the end of their 20 overs.

Bears openers Tom Latham (44) and Alex Davies (65) put on 103 runs for the first wicket.

And Sam Hain (24 not out) hit four boundaries in a 12-ball innings to help Warwickshire to their first T20 Blast win of the season with six balls to spare.

Birmingham then comfortably saw off Derbyshire as openers Davies and Latham impressed again with the bat.

Davies (49) fell just one run short of a half-century while Latham (58) scored his first Blast milestone as the pair put on 79 runs for the first wicket.

And Ali (33 not out) boosted the home side’s total before George Garton (16 not out) blasted late runs in a four-ball knock to propel the Bears to 199-6.

Birmingham made a ruthless start with the ball as George Garton (1-20) caught and bowled Caleb Jewell (0) in the first over.

And Garton caught Aneurin Donald (1) off the bowling of Ed Barnard (1-9) to leave Derbyshire in trouble on 1-2 after seven balls.

Ali (6-23) then took his first couple of wickets, removing both David Lloyd (17) and Martin Andersson (4) with the Falcons in trouble on 28-4.

However, Wayne Madsen (46) and Ross Whiteley (50) kept the visitors in the contest with a 75-run fifth-wicket stand.

Briggs (1-18) eventually removed Madsen just shy of a half-century before Ali returned to claim the scalp of Whiteley.

And Ali backed up the dismissal of Whiteley to remove Alex Thomson (0) with his next ball.

Ali completed a stunning hat-trick with his next delivery as he clean bowled Ben Aitchison (0).

Ali became the first bowler in the club’s history to take a T20 hat-trick and recorded the best-ever figures of any Bears bowler in the format.

Derbyshire lost their final five wickets for the addition of just six runs with the visitors all out for 141 in the 18th over.

Birmingham Bears are next in action against Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Wednesday, June 11 with the game to begin at 6.30pm at the County Ground.
