Conlon's double puts Highgate through

Ben Tyler 17th Oct, 2019

RYAN Conlon starred with a brace in Highgate United’s comfortable 5-1 victory over Northfield Town in the Smedley Crooke Challenge Cup.

With no fixture at the weekend in the Midland Football League Premier Division, Gate fans were given good value for their money in Tuesday night’s dominant performance against the Division Two outfit at The Coppice.

Stuart Hendrie opened the scoring with an early strike, with the lead being added to on the half-hour mark courtesy of Harry Reece’s first senior goal.

Aaron Brown’s back-post header put the hosts in full control of the tie, but Northfield provided a stark reminder the match was not yet won when pulling a goal back minutes after the restart.

Conlon was on hand to settle matters and put the game beyond any doubt when netting in the 53rd and 78th minute, putting Russell Dodd’s men in good form ahead of a visit to Stourport Swifts on Saturday.
