Community six-a-side football league opened up to more players

Solihull Editorial 15th Feb, 2023   0

A COMMUNITY football league in Solihull has proven so popular that organisers have opened up the competition to even more players.

More than 40 new players can be accommodated into the expanded league which is run by Leisure Leagues – Europe’s largest providers of five and six-a-side football.

Leisure Leagues have been inundated with requests from teams wanting to join the league and have responded to the phenomenal demand by booking more pitch time at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre.

League manager Greg Allen said: “The fact we are in a position to start the new division really is down to the hard work of the referees and staff, not to mention the commitment of all the players.

“We are used to leagues becoming part of the community, but we have been genuinely taken aback by the appetite for football that the people of Solihull show and we are delighted that we are able to help them by staging this league.

“We would very much like to thank everyone at Tudor Grange for all their help in allowing us to set up this extra league, the facilities are really first class and we are delighted that we can make even more use of them.”

Profits from the league will be donated to charities and good causes.

Allen added: “Our leagues are community based and we are delighted to be the only league provider to plough its profits back for the benefit of that community.”
