BOWLS - Blossomfield Bowls Club wins Commonwealth Games lot

BLOSSOMFIELD Bowls Club have won a haul of equipment that was used at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The Solihull-based bowls club were invited to bid for several lots of equipment used at the Games last summer and beat 170 other clubs to win one of the lots.

Blossomfield member Nick Worley managed the bid on behalf of the club and collected a range of items including jacks, test bowls, rinks and measuring equipment from the Kuehne Nagel warehouse in Birmingham.

Worley said: “It will be great to use this equipment in the not too distant future in our own game.

“This could be the gift that keeps on giving, we could invite other community groups and individuals to come down and use the equipment and possibly gain new members for our club.”

Blossomfield’s application was supported with evidence of the club’s constitution, policies and a signed agreement between the club and Sport England.

Sport England and the Commonwealth Games committee presented the club with a plaque to mark Blossomfield’s successful bid.

The club can now look forward to using their new equipment in April when the green reopens for business.
