Birmingham Brummies set to name new boss

BRUMMIES owner Tony Mole has confirmed he expects to announce the team’s new manager by next Wednesday.

The National League club are holding a sponsors and season ticket holders night at Perry Barr Stadium on the night Mole is planning to introduce the new boss to guests in attendance.

He said: “It’s no secret that Phil Morris has been working closely with me and his contacts within the sport at youth level have helped us piece together what I am sure will be an exciting team.

“We have high hopes for the new season and all we need to do now is ensure the new manager is the right person for the job – and we need backing through sponsorship and, most important of all, at the turnstiles.

Sam Chapman has been unveiled as the latest rider to sign up for the team as preparations for the 2015 National League campaign continue.

Chapman was a member of last season’s inexperienced Scunthorpe side and the Cornishman will link up with good friend Harvie Banks at Perry Barr.

After enjoying his debut season on shale, he is relishing the prospect of challenging for honours with the world-famous Brummies.

He said: “We look like we have one of the strongest teams at Birmingham and, although you never know how things will pan out over the course of the season, it’s exciting to be part of a strong team.

“We want to be challenging for the title so hopefully things can come together well and I can be part of a side competing towards the top of the table.

“I’m really looking forward to riding with my friend, Harvie Banks, who is in the team with me, and that’s a big bonus for me as well.

“It should be a good environment for me at Birmingham with a good bunch of lads, so hopefully that can bring the best out in me.”

The Brummies sponsors and season ticket night is open to all 2014 season ticket holders who only saw half a season for their money when the club crashed in July.

Anybody interested in sponsoring the club in 2015 is welcome to attend by contacting commercial boss Joe McLaughlin by email at [email protected] in advance.
