SPEEDWAY: BIRMINGHAM favourite Tom Bacon has sealed a return to Perry Barr for next season.
He will again start the year as the club’s No.1 as he links up with the Brummies for a third year running.
New co-promoter David Mason said he’s relieved to get the deal over the line and admits it’s been an anxious wait, despite having Bacon in his plans from the start.
He added: “From day one Tom was someone I wanted in my first Birmingham team next year.
“But as much as he was desperate to be back as well, we couldn’t properly finalise anything until after the AGM.
“Thankfully the points limit was set at 39 as expected and Tom will start next season as our No.1.
“I raced with him for a large part of last season and he impressed me – not only on the track where he is a solid points scorer, but also back in the pits as well.
“He’s a mature young man who’s always looking to better himself, his professionalism is outstanding and his dedication to the sport and attitude is bang on.
“I’m thrilled to have him back at Perry Barr alongside Danyon (Hume) and Leon (Flint).
“Hopefully we’ll be in a position to announce our other riders in the not too distant future.”
