Solihull business owner raises over £750 for animal charity

A SOLIHULL business owner has raised over £750 for an animal rescue trust in Wythall.

Alison Mills, who owns Ice Hair & Beauty ran the Alcester 10K last weekend after just a few months of training.

Alison said she started running with the aim to get fit and had no intention to enter a 10k race.

“It started out as I went out for dinner with my best friend who asked me if I would start running with her, I went home and said to my husband ‘I’ve got something to tell you. I’m going to start running’.

“He absolutely fell about the place laughing.

“Four days later I started the NHS Couch 2 5k programme.”

After Alison completed the programme, she saw a post on Facebook from a friend who said she had no motivation to go running.

Alison said: “I saw her post and immediately entered us both for the Alcester 10k.

“We met up and started training together.

“I thought I was being tortured but I was determined not to give up.”

Alison wanted to raise money for a deserving organisation, and chose Hollytrees Animal Rescue in Wythall.

She added: “In total I raised £760.00 for Hollytrees and am so pleased that I completed the Alcester 10k and I even ran the inclines.

“I’m certainly not a fast runner but I did my best, but I will come a higher place next year!

“I’m not giving up my running, it’s great at 6.30am to get out and blow those cobwebs away and now sets me up for the day before a day in salon.”
