Shirley Brass Band getting into festive spirit with Christmas concerts

FESTIVE songs are set to fill Shirley Baptist Church for Shirley Band’s Christmas concert for the first time since Covid struck.

The 28-strong brass band will host its afternoon Children’s Christmas concert followed by its traditional ‘Brass at Christmas’ concert on December 4.

There will be music from Frozen, Howard Blake’s The Snowman and popular carols, including Silent Night at the Stratford Road church.

The Children’s concert, which starts at 3pm, will have a special visit from Father Christmas.

The evening concert starts at 7pm.

Audiences at both concert are encouraged to dress in their finest festive outfits.

The brass band regularly performs across the West Midlands, most recently as guests of the prestigious Leamington Music festival.

It also has a regular concert series at The Dovehouse Theatre.

Sally Middleton, Shirley Band’s secretary, said: “The programmes for both concerts will include some fun, feel good favourites.

“They will be overflowing with good cheer, magical sounds and seasonal music old and new, all wrapped and delivered with a smile by the band’s conductor, Tom Stoneman.”

Tickets for the children’s concert cost £3.50 for adults, £5.50 for children and under 2’s get in for free.

Tickets for Brass at Christmas concert are £9 for adults, £7.50 for concessions and children under 12 get in for free.
