Man charged with murder after body found in Sparkhill hostel

A MAN has been charged with murder after a body was found at a hostel in Sparkhill.

Damien Borowiec, aged 21, of Durham Road, has been remanded in custody accused of killing a 52-year-old man who was discovered dead at the hostel on Durham Road at around 10am on Sunday morning (April 3) .

Eight others were also arrested – two have been bailed pending further enquiries and the others released without charge.

Mr Borowiec appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court yesterday (March 5) and will next appear in crown court.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who can assist police detectives is urged to call 101.
