Latest figures show employment rate is taking off in the region

THE number of people employed in the West Midlands stands at 2.81 million – up 28,000 on the quarter and 48,000 on the year.

The employment rate for those aged 16 to 64 is currently at 74.8 per cent, up 1.5 per cent on the year but still below the UK average of 75.5 per cent.

The number of people unemployed in the region is at 138,000 – down 4,000 on the quarter and down 43,000 on the year with the unemployment rate at 4.7 per cent down 1.5 per cent on the year but above the UK average of 41.1 per cent.

Minister for Employment Mims Davies MP said: “As we begin the new year, our Job Centres are open for business, to give people the skills and confidence they need to seize new and better paid jobs in 2022.”




All Jobcentres are actively promoting vacancies for the Commonwealth Games including the registering of interested jobseekers onto a ‘talent pool’ where customers are matched to the opportunities.
