Hounds head to the NEC for Crufts 2023

Solihull Editorial 9th Mar, 2023   0

THOUSANDS of well-groomed and obedient dogs are getting ready to strut their stuff at this year’s Crufts Show.

As the pampered pooches arrived at the NEC ahead the annual competition they showed off their skills and checked out the competition.

This year the show is supporting the Stand Up To Cancer Walkies Challenge which calls on owners and their four-legged friends to walk 60 miles in April to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.

At the event’s official launch the dogs of Crufts put their paws up in support of the challenge.

Bill Lambert, spokesperson for Crufts, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Stand Up To Cancer’s fundraising and the Walkies Challenge at Crufts 2023.

“Cancer is a cruel disease which affects so many and we hope that Crufts visitors and competitors alike – and any dog-owners watching from home – will pledge their support and step up to the challenge.

“We’re sure our clever canines at the event will sniff out the opportunity for more ‘walkies’ and pledge their support via our giant pawprint.”

Crufts begins on Thursday, March 9, culminating with the prestigious Best in Show on Sunday, March 12.

More than 200 breeds will be vying for the Best in Show title at Crufts 2022.

Crufts celebrates the many diverse roles that dogs play, and sees competitions such as The Kennel Club Hero Dog Award, the Scruffts Family Crossbreed of the Year competition, Obreedience, in which different breeds compete against each other in teams to prove which is the ‘goodest dog’, and the ever popular fast-paced agility and flyball competitions.

Previously West Midlands Police, who have a dog breeding centre in Basall Common, have showcased their dogs skills in the demonstration area at Crufts.
