SHIRLEY Band are tuning up for a concert at Solihull’s The Dovehouse Theatre on Saturday, April 2.
The 28-strong brass band, one of the best bands in the entire region, showed their class after finishing in the top ten of the West Midlands Brass Band championships, and late last year performed at the prestigious Leamington Music festival.
Their ‘Best of Brass’ concert at the Dovehouse will include a range of original works, arrangements and transcriptions for brass band, including: The State Anthem of Ukraine, Spectrum – Gilbert Vinter, Albion – Stephen Roberts, Gaelforce – Peter Graham, Mid All The Traffic – Leonard Ballantine, Birdland – arr. Philip Sparke, Little Suite For Brass (in full) – Malcolm Arnold, Prelude for an Occasion – Edward Gregson and the March: Punchinello – William Rimmer
Sally Middleton, Shirley Band’s secretary, said: “We can’t wait to perform again at The Dovehouse, one of our favourite venues.
“The concert will feature original works, arrangements and transcription for brass bands, as well as two world premieres.
“It’s going to be fantastic.”
Tickets for ‘Best of Brass’ are £9 (adults), £7.50 (concessions) and children under 12 get in for free.
