AN AMERICAN-themed concert will take place at Shirley Baptist Church tomorrow (Saturday, June 24).

The 28-strong Shirley Band will be putting on the show.

The band regularly performs across the West Midlands, and competes in the Premiership equivalent of the brass band world.

American Road Trip features a range of music, including, John Philip Sousa’s, The Stars and Stripes Forever, Amazing Grace, Henry Mancini’s Moon River, and a selection from Leonard Bernstein’s, West Side Story, as well as a host of other equally American music, either written for brass band, or arrangements.

Sally Middleton, Shirley Band’s secretary, said: “We can’t wait to perform at Shirley Baptist Church again, one of our favourite venues.

“Buckle up and enjoy an American Road Trip, with Shirley Band, one of the best in the region.

“From the open plains of the Wild West, to built up cityscapes, come and hear a programme from across the pond, including West Side Story, Money River, from the classic film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and much, much more.”

Tickets for American Road Trip are £10 (adults), £8 (concessions) and children under 12 get in for free.

The concert will be from 7pm and 9.15pm.
